I then did some Matisse type cut outs.

“Following Hilda Af Klint and Matisse”. A51cm x 76cm. Acrylic and paper on canvas.

I then found the following picture of Dutch tulips being grown in Holland.

I love the beautiful lines in this photograph of tulips being grown in Holland . It inspired the following small painting.

This was followed by my tree painting which was done in March – April.
In April I went to Caves Beach near Newcastle with Juliet, Jeremy and Stella. The rocks were inspiring as were the water lilies.

I projected the lines from this photo of rocks onto a canvas.

The tracings from projected photograph.

Michael’s painting.

Board paintings
In July 2022, I found a board in Onslo Avenue in Elizabeth Bay on the way back from the wharf cafe at Elizabeth Bay.

In August 2022 Jock and Michael gave me some lily buds and I was asked to do a drawing or painting a day until they bloomed.

Vegetation Series
In January 2023 I continued the botanical theme and did two paintings by placing flowers and leaves on the canvas and using a spray can with acrylic paint to create the out lines for the ultimate composition.

“Anemones in the Sun”. 1m x 1m acrylic on canvas. $1000.00
I collected some fresh leaves and twigs from Embarkation Park and placed them between the pages of a drawing pad. Over the period of a couple of weeks, as the plants dried out the paper creased and this provided me with the foundation on which I drew and painted the following series.

“Autumn Storm “. Acrylic on paper. 42 cm x 59.

“Autumn”. Acrylic on paper. 42cm x 59cm.

I then projected on to the canvas a photograph of a tree which exhibited negative spaces. I traced the lines of the negative spaces onto the canvas and this created the composition. I have called the series “Lightness of Being”-
